In an assignment for the Graphic Design course, I was asked to design a new, refreshing logo for ‘Twinx’, a company specializing in project and business management. Twinx stands for: “Together we innovate”.
The client specified that the new logo should be corporate, energetic and dynamic, preferably with the colors red and purple (that stand for innovation). Some key words: refreshing, no-nonsense, fast track business development, innovation, project organization, collaboration.
After a few sketches on paper, I finally chose a logo with a modern, corporate typography. The letter “i”, central in the word, represents a magic wand that stands for innovation. I used the colors red and purple, and through the magic wand with stars, movement is also expressed. The logo can be easily animated, eg. using sparkling stars above the magic wand. The logo was also designed in shades of gray and a one-color version.
Sagio.be is a non-profit tutoring organization managed by students of the Catholic University of Leuven. Sagio’s partnership brochure was outdated and could use a new and refreshing layout. After I previously designed a flyer for Sagio’s annual job event, I was offered again this opportunity!
After I learned how to work with Adobe Indesign in the Graphic design course, this was for me the first time I was designing a brochure for real, and therefore also a great opportunity to put theory into practice. The content of the brochure was completely provided by Sagio, it was up to me just to provide to graphical layout of the brochure. The brochure had to consist of about 8 pages, and the style needed to fit into the corporate identity of the organization. There had to be delivered a digital version (PDF with interactive features such as bookmarks), and a print-ready version.
Things I learned
- Experience with Adobe’s Indesign
- Designing a magazine layout
- Creating Interactive PDF’s
- Making documents print-ready
For Sagio.be, a non-profit tutoring organization managed by students of the Catholic University of Leuven, I was asked to design a digital flyer for their annual job event. Through Sagio’s job events, students can get in contact with some of their greatest partner companies, such as HP and PwC. The flyer should also announce a contest that is linked to the Job events, where one could win various prizes.
As this was a challenging opportunity for me, I accepted the offer. I designed a professional-looking flyer with bright colors that would immediately attract attention. The text on the flyer is brief, and the logos of the biggest partner companies that will be joining are large. The green colored text balloon announces the contest.
